Tușnad Cycling Team becomes Team NOVAK

The only native continental team of the 141 affiliated to the UCI in 2018 will have the name of its creator, Eduard Carol Novak (the only paralympic champion of Romania). “Team NOVAK” will take over the tradition and record of the Tuşnad Cycling Team, the name of the most titled Romanian cycling team of the last decade . “After the continental’s team ten-year existence, I can say that we have achieved our goal. Novak Cycling Academy launch


The only paralympic champion in Romanian history, Eduard Novak, launched at Miercurea Ciuc the first cycling academy in Eastern Europe, entitled “Novak Cycling Academy”. Before the opening ceremony that took place at the cinema in Miercurea Ciuc a skill contest for the young cyclists took place, in which athletes registered at the great champion’s academy participated. Eduard Novak declared for the press that this is an older dream of his and a project which emphasizes his 30 years of experience as a professional athlete from which 15 as a cyclist. The paralympic champion recalled how when he started cycling he had nobody to teach him how to ride a bicycle and how to compete, his first coach being the Internet….

The only Paralympian in the history of Romania, Carol Eduard Novak (40 years), received a diploma of merit during the weekend from the European Cycling Union (UEC) on the occasion of the 30th congress of the continental forum, held in Brussels. The Romanian Cycling Federation’s president was presented the award for the work in developing and promoting Romanian and European cycling, by the head of the UEC, Frenchman David Lappartient and the famous triple Olympic champion and President of the Russian Federation, Viatcheslav Ekimov. Besides this distinction, Eduard Novak was elected voting delegate of the UEC for the next UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) Congress along with representatives of 14 other countries from the 50 European federations present at the election….

Carol Eduard Novak (40 years old), the only Paralympian in Romanian history, was elected president of Romanian Cycling Federation in the General Assembly, which took place on Friday in the resort Balvanyos, Covasna County. 57 of the 71 clubs affiliated members voted as the statutory quorum of 2/3 was met. The General Assembly was supervised by Sergiu Nechita (represented MTS) and Alexander Epuran (represented COSR). Eduard Novak was re-elected with 36 votes, competing opponents Nicolae Plugaru and Viorel Grosu obtaining 10 and 9 votes respectively. “It is a great honor and responsibility for me to lead the future of Romanian cycling for another four years. “I want to break the Para-cycling Hour Record!”


Returning from Rio de Janeiro, the only Paralympian in Romanian history doesn’t want to give up cycling at 40 years old.. Eduard Novak will try this fall to break the “Hour Record” in Para-cycling. The attempt involves traveling as long of a distance on the velodrome within 60 minutes.
